Can You Stream Netflix From Phone To Tv

Can You Stream Netflix From Phone To Tv – Chromecast comes to mind when “casting” video from a smartphone to a big screen TV, but it’s not the only way to “cast” streaming content. This is especially true with Netflix, where you can send movies and TV shows to not only Chromecast-enabled TVs, but to smart TVs, consoles, and other streaming players, giving you complete control directly from your smartphone.

Below, I will show you how to “cast” and control Netflix videos from your Android or iOS smartphone to a TV connected with Chromecast; Smart TV, video game console, Blu-ray player or other streaming player; or on Apple TV. The process is slightly different, but the result is the same – full control of Netflix on your big screen TV directly from your smartphone.

If you don’t have a smart TV, console, set-top box, or other device connected to your TV that has the Netflix app available for installation, Chromecast is a great alternative. You can start TV shows and movies on your Android or iOS smartphone, send them directly to the big screen with Google Cast, and control everything from your smartphone.

How To Watch Google Play And Google Tv Movies Offline

After connecting the two devices, you can play videos from your smartphone, which gives you on-screen controls to fast-forward, fast-rewind, pause or play the video, as well as change audio or text settings. You can also continue browsing Netflix or even exit the app entirely so you can multitask.

Android TV devices, such as Sony and Nvidia Shield smart TVs, also have Google Cast, which is similar to the Chromecast experience. However, in our tests, we found that they prefer the DIAL protocol (see the next section) over Google Cast in most cases.

As I mentioned at the top of this article, Chromecast isn’t the only way to stream videos from the Netflix app to your iPhone or Android device.

Thanks to Netflix’s 2nd Screen feature, which uses the Discovery and Launch (DIAL) protocol, you can send and control content from your smartphone (“2nd screen” device) to a smart TV, console or other streaming device (“first screen” device) with Netflix install the app and sign in.

Examples of “1. displays” include, but are not limited to, Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Roku boxes and smart TVs, and Xbox One. The process is very similar to using Chromecast and the controls you get on your smartphone are exactly the same.

Once connected, you can play Netflix videos, fast forward, fast rewind or pause the video, as well as change audio or subtitle settings. You can also continue browsing Netflix or even quit the app altogether so you can play games or receive email.

If you have an Apple TV and an iPhone, you can also use AirPlay to stream Netflix content to your TV. This is similar to the Chromecast option where you don’t need to install the Netflix app on your Apple TV to stream from your smartphone. You can also mirror your iPhone screen, but we won’t cover it here because it’s inconvenient and unnecessary for Netflix.

You can also enable AirPlay using the Control Center, but it’s more time-consuming and confusing. But if you want, with Netflix open, swipe up from the bottom to open the Control Center, swipe left to see the Now Playing screen, then tap the bar at the bottom of the screen and select Apple TV.

Finally! You Can Download Shows From Netflix

If you have a newer HTC-branded Android smartphone, AirPlay support is built in, so you can also use AirPlay Netflix on your Apple TV.

And that’s all. Whether you have a Chromecast, a 2nd Screen-enabled device, or an Apple TV, you’ve got everything you need to get up and cast. So what are we still doing here? Ask to watch!

Big Screen Viewing: How To Connect Your Iphone Or Ipad To Your Tv

Do you have a TV and want to watch Netflix? Here are some easy ways to connect and stream.

Ty Pendlebury is a Journalism graduate from RMIT Melbourne and has been with us since 2006. He lives in New York where he writes about streaming and home audio.

Netflix has so many great TV shows and movies that whenever you hear something new to watch, it’s on Netflix. Therefore, you may be wondering how to watch streaming services on TV. Relax, it’s easy. Here’s what you need to know.

First, the basics: You need the Netflix app, and you’ll find it installed on your smart TV or on a device connected to your TV. The most common are dedicated streaming devices — such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV — or game consoles such as PlayStation or Xbox. Once you have the app and device, you’ll need a Netflix subscription and a stable internet connection.

Broadband Isp Talktalk Bundles Cheaper Netflix Without Pay Tv

The Netflix plan starts at $9 per month, a price that allows you to watch on a single screen (TV, phone or whatever), but the disadvantage is that it offers relatively low image quality (standard definition or SD). For those who want to watch on the big screen, it is worth going up to the most popular plan of Netflix ($14 a month), which allows you to stream in high definition, or HD, on two screens at the same time. If you have a 4K TV or want to watch up to four screens at once, you’ll want to subscribe for $18.

Next, you’ll also need some way to connect the internet directly to your Netflix streaming device (more on that below). Depending on the device, you will need a wired Ethernet connection or, more often, Wi-Fi. To connect your device to Wi-Fi, you need to make sure you know the Wi-Fi name and password. Netflix recommends a minimum connection speed of 1.5 Mbps, and most broadband providers are reliable, but if you’re not sure, run SpeedTest to measure your speed.

Once you have an account and an internet connection, you’ll need a device to watch Netflix. Just like on phones, there are Netflix apps for TVs and other devices, including streamers and media consoles. The app is free, but of course you need to install it on your device first. Note that all the options below assume that you have Netflix onboard or that you have a modern TV with an HDMI port.

If you have an old analog TV without HDMI, unfortunately this option does not work for you. Roku made a streamer with an analog output called the Roku Express Plus, but it has replaced it with an HDMI-only model. If you really don’t want to buy a new TV just to get Netflix, you can find one of the earlier versions – just look for the AV output indicator light.

Netflix’s New Feature Will Automatically Play Something To Watch Based On Your Interests

Smart TV: If you have a flat screen TV made in the last 10 years, you probably already watch Netflix. Modern televisions integrate streaming services such as Netflix into an interface known as “smart TV”. While some TVs have a dedicated Netflix button on the remote, most compatible models have a Smart TV button that lets you access available streaming apps. The app may be older, slower, and not as modern as the current version, but if you want to access Netflix now, it should still work.

Streaming device or console: While some TVs have a built-in Netflix app, many people watch Netflix on their TV using a separate device connected to the TV. If you’re not using a smart platform built into your TV, you’ll need to make sure your TV has an HDMI port. Almost all of the Netflix devices that we will mention below use an HDMI connection.

Additionally, your Blu-ray player or console may have a Netflix app. If you have a relatively new console – from Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 ($1,589 on eBay) and up – you will be able to access Netflix. For example, PlayStation 3 can still offer the latest version of the app, which includes browser login.

Mobile: Phones and tablets can also control Netflix on your TV, although the process can be a little more complicated than either of the two methods above. If you want to use your phone to control Netflix, you can use a feature called Chromecast built-in, or for Apple users AirPlay, to stream video.
