How To Connect Netflix To Tv
Knowing if your TV supports Netflix can dramatically expand your entertainment horizons. But what if you’re not sure if you really have a smart TV?
A smart TV is usually defined as a TV with internet capabilities. In many cases, this simply means you have an internet application like Netflix. If you’re not sure if your TV is a smart TV, look at the remote control first. Assuming you have the original remote, you should see an Apps button (and possibly a Netflix button). If you don’t see the apps button, go to your TV’s menu and search here for apps.
Of course, if you know the model number, Google it. In addition to receiving information about your TV, if the Netflix app is supported, you may be shown instructions on how to access the app.
As explained above, if you have a TV that doesn’t have built-in Netflix functionality, you’re not completely out of luck. All you need is a device that works with your TV, such as a Chromecast, Roku, Firestick, and an HDMI cable.

If you don’t have a TV with internet access, you can use another device to stream Netflix to your TV. Whether it’s a Chromecast, Firestick or laptop, being able to watch Netflix on your TV screen is just a few clicks or taps away from your cable.

Got a TV and want to watch Netflix? Here are some easy ways to connect and stream.

There are so many great TV shows and movies on Netflix that every time I hear about a new show it seems like it’s on Netflix. So you might be wondering how to watch streaming services on your TV. Calm and easy. Here’s what you need to know:
First, the basics: you need the Netflix app. It is installed on your smart TV or on a device that is connected to your TV. The most common of these are dedicated streaming devices such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV or gaming consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox. Once you have the app and device, you’ll need a Netflix subscription and a stable internet connection.
Simple Ways To Watch Netflix On Tv
Netflix plans start at $9/month and are priced for viewing on one screen (TV, phone, etc.) at a time, but suffer from relatively poor video quality (standard definition or SD). For those who want to watch on the big screen, Netflix’s most popular plan ($14 per month) is worth the move. This plan allows you to stream in high definition (HD) to two screens simultaneously. If you have a 4K TV or want to watch on up to 4 screens at once, you need an $18 subscription.
Next, you’ll also need a way to connect the internet directly to your Netflix streaming device (more on that below). Depending on your device, you may need a wired Ethernet connection or more commonly Wi-Fi. To connect this device to Wi-Fi, you need to know the Wi-Fi name and password. Netflix recommends a minimum connection speed of 1.5 Mbps, and most broadband services can certainly achieve this, but if you’re not sure, visit SpeedTest to test your speed.
Once you have an account and an internet connection, you’ll need a device to watch Netflix. As with mobile phones, there are Netflix apps for TVs and other devices such as media streamers and video game consoles. The app is free, but of course you need to install it on your device first. Note that all the options below assume Netflix is on your TV or you have a modern TV with an HDMI port.
If you have an older analog TV without HDMI, unfortunately these options will not work. Roku used to make a streamer with an analog output called the Roku Express Plus, but it’s been replaced by an HDMI-only model. If you don’t want to buy a new TV just to get Netflix, you may be able to find one of the older versions, just look for the AV output port.
Is There A Netflix Student Discount? Nope!
Smart TV: If you have a flat screen TV made in the last decade, you probably already have Netflix. Modern TVs integrate streaming services like Netflix into interfaces called “smart TVs”. Some TVs have a dedicated Netflix button on the remote control, but most compatible models have a Smart TV button that gives access to available streaming apps. The app may be old, slow, and not as smooth as the latest version, but it should still work if you want to access Netflix right now.
Streaming device or game console: Some TVs have a built-in Netflix app, but many people use another device connected to their TV to watch Netflix on their TV. If you’re not using your TV’s built-in Smart Platform, you’ll need to make sure your TV has an HDMI port.
