Craigslist South Jersey Trucks For Sale By Owner – When is a truck not a truck? When it’s a muscle car. What we’re getting is a price point for a classic muscle car that many fans will have to exclude themselves from participating in. Maybe it’s for the best, because classic trucks — especially classic Chevys — are less expensive than muscle cars, but simpler. This means the skill required to roll up your sleeves and dive is more manageable for the average gearhead. Fewer parts means the repair and assembly portion of your project can be done faster, giving you more time and money to enjoy your classic Chevy truck.
At HOT ROD, the classic Chevrolet truck is the current king of affordable performance. Aside from their boxy shape, they’re virtually indistinguishable from classic Chevy muscle cars like Camaros, Novas, Chevelles, and Impalas. Classic Chevrolet trucks handle all the standard hot rod tricks and sport all the standard Chevrolet engines, including small, big, diesel and any number of swaps like the latest model LS V8. In addition to the availability of more horsepower, aftermarket support for classic Chevrolet trucks with larger disc brake kits, performance suspension, cooling upgrades, ignition systems, sheet metal, rolling stock, trim components, interior trim and various creature comforts.

In the world of classic Chevrolet trucks, there are many different types. Most favored by performance enthusiasts are the half-ton models, which are closer in mass to muscle cars. The Chevrolet (and GMC) C10 is worth a look with a dizzying array of options. Body styles are divided into long and short wheel models, with flat-sided (sometimes called fleetside) and contoured stepped sides further distinguishing the look. Although crew cabs are all the rage today, low quality cabs dominated truck fleet sales in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. For hot rods, that means less weight, a more elegant silhouette and a simpler design.

Classic Chevrolet trucks are divided into styling-defining model-year breaks. The first generation C10 Classic Chevrolet Truck was produced from 1960 to 1966, the Action Line models were produced from 1967 to 1972, and the Round Line (also known as the Cube) was produced from 1973 to 1987. These are the most sought after models. Our treasure hunt theme today! We’ve scoured Craigslist in all the major markets currently for sale and dug up these 10 cool classic Chevy trucks for your next hot project. Let’s see.
You’ve got to love an honest guy with “a lot of rust in all the usual areas.” Look past that and you’ll love this 1979 Chevrolet C10 short-wheelbase styling bonanza. We can’t argue with the seller’s asking price of $2, $800 or a “yard” run. A ubiquitous low-block Chevrolet V8 sits under the hood, and interested parties can click here to view the Dahlonega, Georgia offering. You’ll want to check out additional photos of this and the next nine classic Chevrolet trucks in our gallery.
If you’re looking for a long-wheelbase classic Chevrolet C10 with “roadkill” lettering, this multi-colored basket is ready to satisfy your Freiburger dreams, small V8 engines that don’t run, and more. It’s one of the more popular of the later Action Line models, and the (mostly) unobtrusive grille is a plus. We found it on San Diego Craigslist in the Escondido area, so the rust is limited to a mostly superficial patina.
For another $501, we found this 350ci-equipped 1978 Chevrolet Classic truck from Craigslist in the San Diego area. The seller had to work really hard to get pictures of some of the rust on the rocker plate on the door frame, but we don’t bother painting this one because it’s in perfect condition for the worn shade of a sleeper muscle truck it is. Note that the car has been out of production for a few years and California buyers will have to pay an additional $330 back-payment penalty.

Across the East Coast south of Orlando, Florida, in the St. Cloud Mountains, we found this sweet LS Swap Short Bed Side Unit from the Cube Group. It has all the features a junior muscle truck needs: short bed, fleet side, LS swap (5.3-liter LM7 from a 2001 model truck) and a Turbo 350 transmission with a 2,500-rpm stall shifter. Looks like the seller is off to a good start with the muscle truck build (hey, it’s red too!), saving some lucky buyers the extra hassle. Note the slight rot on the driver’s side drip rail.
Inexplicably, the first-generation C10 wasn’t as expensive as the second-generation “Action Line” model, making this 1963 Chevrolet C10 Short Wheelbase (Stockton, CA) an impressive bargain. A mixture of light surface rust, mold and peeling layers of old repaint gives a viable patina with no evidence of malignant cancer. It needs a new wood bed (doesn’t everything?), the smaller Chevrolet V8 (probably 283ci or 327ci) needs a rebuild, and the interior deserves a new dash and seat covers, but it’s a keeper.
More experienced project builders will want to take a hard look at this rare CST trim-level 1969 C10 that originally came with a 396ci stout Chevrolet. The CST was a fully loaded machine when new, including bucket seats, a center console, and various upwardly trimmed bits—albeit a long time here—and once fully restored, this short wheelbase was an ideal model. It’s strictly a roller, but the seller also includes a ton of extra sheet metal (new and used), a bench, and a bunch of parts that you can browse through the Scottsdale, Arizona Craigslist classifieds.
It’s unclear if this 1980 Chevrolet C10 is a short wheelbase running vehicle, but the seller (Rialto, CA) has zero rust and for an extra $1,000 you can get their big 454ci block Chevrolet crate engine and (presumably) Turbo 400 three- automatic transmission. You’ll need to install it yourself, but if all goes well, you should have a working muscle truck by the end of the weekend. The seller says he’s completely firm on the $8,000 price, but if you’re willing to splurge on your own upgraded LS drivetrain, you can take it home for $7,000.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 For Sale In Pemberton, Nj
Because of the harsh winter weather and all the salt on the roads, there are always dark clouds over New York cars, but this intrepid seller found this 1966 GMC C10 Long Wheelbase in Idaho with a mostly complete mid-range repair. Rhetorical Question: Is Idaho’s salt and snow better than Long Island’s? As you’ll soon discover if you pull the trigger on this inline-six manual transmission, make sure to carefully follow the New Yorker’s directions to your holy grail.
We don’t know what garage tool this salesman’s wife was whipping him, but he ditched his 1981 Chevrolet C10 short wheelbase project truck (East Connecticut) for a BMW or Mercedes. Rejected as a mid-term project, it’s had a lot of work (frame slotted in the rear, frame repaired and rebuilt, new suspension units up front), and it comes with a pair of rear ends and a pair of 350ci small-block crate engines. There’s also about a ton of new sheet metal, but as with most substandard materials, you’ll still need to take some solutions. Try selling the extra parts you don’t need and rate this baby for almost nothing.
It breaks our hearts to hear stories like this, but the seller of this sweet 1973 Chevy Cheyenne Long Bed Style Side (Phoenix) bought it and set it aside for his birthday, only to discover that his family needed $9,000 for a new roof. We are in this situation and it sucks. Here’s what you get as it (according to the owner) has a strong running 350ci V8, new tires, new battery, new bench seat, new alternator, new radiator, new master cylinder and new taillight lenses. This running, running classic Chevrolet truck comes with a front end rebuild kit and new calipers that have yet to be installed. The seller promises the buyer a drunken grandpa feeling for days! Craigslist has a lot to offer, and one of them is that you can buy and sell new/used items at reasonable prices. When people want to buy something cheap without extra shipping and handling fees, they turn to Craigslist. However, many people who want to buy something do not stop to think about what they are going to order. Usually they jump on the first cheap thing they see.
Although 80 million classified ads are posted on Craigslist each month, it can be difficult to distinguish stolen content.
