How To Get Rid Of The Smell In A Front Load Washer

A quick survey of kitchen workers revealed that most cooks in the staff house don’t mind the smell of garlic on their fingertips. (That might help explain why I like these people so much.) But I know it’s not a scent that everyone likes. Some of you don’t want a hint of that pungent smell when you get into bed at night and go to get your glasses. I think I understood. So I tried to find the best way to get rid of this smell once and for all.

The Best Way To Get Garlic Smells Off Your Fingers

I’ve learned that lathering with ready-to-eat oil before chopping or pressing garlic helps reduce the strength of the odor left on your hands. I’ve never tried it though because I personally don’t want to see what happens when you try to cut very small things with crossed arms with a very sharp knife. However, I was interested in trying different methods to combat the smell

To cut So I’ve assembled five promising contenders—some old faithful, some new and strange—to test against each other what works best. Any predictions?

I used one large clove of garlic to test each method. Each time I removed the nail from the skin, I held the nail in my fingers, pinched and rubbed to make sure the oils left a strong scent. Then I washed my hands in cool water, trying one method at a time. I tested each method long enough to make sure the smell from the previous test was gone.

Again, I tried five methods. The most effective method was rated 5/5, the least effective was 1/5, I filled in the rest of the methods accordingly.

How To Get Rid Of That Musty Smell

About the method: Cut a potato in half, rub it all over your hands, then wash it with soap and cold water. The folks at Cook’s Illustrated tested and recommended using half a potato to remove garlic from the cutting board, saying that browned foods (like apples and potatoes) have an enzyme (polyphenol oxidase) that can oxidize sulfur compounds, including the thiol thiocyanates that garlic gives. sharp smell and they turn into odorless compounds.’ If it works on wood, why not human skin? In addition, many websites are behind the hacker.

Results: This method yielded almost nothing. If anything it did, it was because I cut the potatoes in half with a stainless steel handle (more on stainless later!). Honestly, I’m being generous by giving this method a 1. However, I am interested enough to try it on a wooden cutting board.

About the method: pour a spoonful of coffee into your palm, add a few drops of water and rub your hands together, clean your skin for 30 seconds. Follow with soap and cold water. Ground coffee is a known odor absorber; And Food & Wine recommends drying used coffee grounds in the refrigerator, kitchen cabinets, and even the bathroom to absorb odors.

The results: chapped hands? invoice! At first I only smelled coffee, but as soon as I lifted my hand to my nose, garlic and coffee were clear. Not a winning combination, but my hands were softer than usual, so that was a plus!

About the method: Rub your hands on any stainless steel under cold water for at least 30 seconds. You can use stainless steel soap, sink faucet, pan, spoon – anything that is stainless steel. Then wash with soap and cold water. This method (supposedly) works because the smelly sulfur compounds in freshly chopped garlic bind to the stainless steel molecules and remove the odor from your hands. However, this is mostly an old wives tale and lacks scientific evidence to support this claim.

The result: After spritzing it all over my hands with a stainless steel spoon for 30 seconds, I noticed the smell lessened, but it definitely lingered. This method can be used on short notice, or if you’re just trying to get to the dinner table and don’t want to bother with completely deodorizing your hands.

About the method: Pour a bottle of mouthwash into bare hands, rub together, and follow with soap and cold water. If it affects your breath, why doesn’t it affect your skin?

Results: This method worked amazingly well! Mouthwash is what I consider a strong scent, so it was hard to tell if it was masking or removing the garlic smell, but I guess it didn’t matter because I only got a faint hint of garlic. I don’t recommend using this method if you have any kind of cut on your hand because the alcohol will really make you mad, but it works the fastest and is a definite winner if you’re hiding in the toilet to avoid the smell!

How To Get Smoke Smell Out Of Your House For Good

About the method: Pour about 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 teaspoons of baking soda into your hands. Add a little water (enough to make a paste) and then rub your hands together for 30 seconds. Follow with soap and cold water. The baking soda is supposed to absorb the odor and the salt acts as an exfoliant.

Results: Baking soda is an amazing deodorizer, so it was no surprise that this method worked the best. It didn’t completely remove the garlic smell, but it reduced it much more than any other method. Pamper dry hands with a scented moisturizer after washing and you’re good to go.
