How To View Timeline On Facebook – If you have not yet converted your Facebook fan page to a new timeline design, your page will automatically convert on March 30, 2012, which will happen very soon. This post covers most of the basic settings and functions you need to know. Even if you have upgraded, you will find some tips here!

How To View Timeline On Facebook
One of the biggest feature changes that many companies are unhappy about is the removal of the default landing button. That’s where you can create a custom landing page for non-fans using the iFrame app and add multimedia, inbox and / or attractive reasons to join your fan page. In addition, many companies have used the “like-gating” or “fan-gating” feature on these standard custom landing pages, where you can entice your fans to click the Like button and then reward them with With special benefits such as coupon code or unique content. Dimensions are 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels high. It’s a great place to showcase photos and graphics related to your brand / business. Personally, I am very excited about this photo shoot! The possibilities are endless… despite strict rules around what content can not be placed on the cover image (see Key # 4 below).

You have the opportunity to preview your page, make any changes you want, get it the way you want, and then publish. Look for the preview option at the top of your page in the old design. Or view your page list here and enable page preview mode. Before you publish, at least upload an attractive cover image.
. There is really no strategic benefit in waiting … okay, maybe if you have a hot personal landing page with a like-gate campaign that works really well. If not, go for the update now and be guided by educating your fans about all the new features.
The dimensions of the large cover image are 851 x 315 pixels. If you post images smaller than these, it will extend to a larger size. The image you post must be at least 399 pixels wide. . You may find that the activity itself does not get a good Edgerank (score, visual, information). So all you can do is hide the activity on your wall and then share the new cover image with the prompt in the text section, e.g.

Do not place contact information, call to action, or arrows pointing to the Like or Share button on your cover photo. See the website instructions here. Contact information should be in the About section. There is no law calling for this action, probably because Facebook is generous with this huge property … but the company does not want us to indirectly deal with all kinds of ads and promotions … for free! They are valuable and they are called Facebook Ads! And new special ads and Reach Generator. Your profile image is always square and displayed at 125 x 125 pixels or 150 x 150 pixels, depending on someone’s screen size. Photos you upload must be at least 180 x 180 pixels. Facebook forbids page owners from changing profile pictures too often. This is the main immediately recognizable image that follows you on Facebook, wherever your posts go and wherever you comment on your page.
How To Use Facebook Timeline
You can no longer set the default landing tab. Feel free to use the cover image instead (see # 3 above) and the three main apps (see # 8 below). Also drive traffic to any tab you want (see # 7 below).
Custom applications are still running, including the fan-gate function. Each tab / app still has a unique URL, so you can direct traffic from inside or outside Facebook to any “landing page” you want.
Under your cover image, your “tab” now appears as an application or view. You can have a maximum of 12, but only four are always shown. The first is always a photo and can not be moved. “Views” are standard Facebook apps or functions, such as photos, events, bookmarks. Software is all third party software.
You can add custom thumbnails to all your apps. Dimensions are 111 x 74 pixels. These are great sections to get creative and add seamless branding, call to action and offers. To add / change custom thumbnails, first expand all apps by clicking the down arrow to the right of the four apps screen. Then hover over any app> click Edit Pen> click Edit Settings> click Change next to custom tab image (opens in new window)> click Change> Upload Image. Vola. Images are uploaded and saved immediately. (I noticed a bug with this feature and often saw thumbnails of other pages pop up … you may have to post a few times to get your image stuck!)

The Like button is now set to “Like” when clicked. Users can HOVER for options, including adding a list of interests. The Liked button is a great new feature because it shows fans that they already like the page. But the top-down functionality and the ability to add pages to the list of interests is very new and not really clear at all. (See # 11 and my next blog post!)
Encourage your fans and viewers to add you to the list of interests. Let them know which subject is best, e.g. My page will be best included in a list called Facebook Tips or Facebook Marketing or Social Media Marketing. (Interest list is brand new on March 8th. How To Show Followers On Facebook
You can go back in time to add business highlights to your timeline. When you do, these things will be published on the right date and go into your fans’ information, creating more visibility and engagement. The whole scope of the real-time timeline element of timeline design is focused on what Facebook calls “legacy brands” – those brands that have decades of historical data that they want to present.
The page wall now has four filters: page highlighting, posts by others, and peer activity. There is no way to set a wall for everyone to post. The default is always Highlights. In your page settings (Dashboard> Manage> Page Editing> Manage Permissions), you can choose not to allow anyone to post on your wall or to display posts by others. However, I recommend enabling settings so that anyone can post to your wall, anyone can add photos and videos, and display new posts by others.
All posts created by the page can be pinned to the top of the wall for up to 7 days. I suggest you rotate any posts that are clipped and do not leave any posts.
