The Ordinary, Deciem’s Famous Skin Care Brand, Is Now Available At Ulta

The Ordinary Squalene Cleanser is a gentle, soap-free, moisturizing cleanser that is effective at dissolving makeup and other impurities without drying the skin.

How it feels: It has a typical balm-like consistency and turns into a clear oil-like consistency after you rub it between your palms.

Directions: Dispense product into hand. Rub the product together to warm it so it dissolves in the oil. Massage well on dry face and rinse with warm water.

People with dry skin should avoid harsh exfoliants or they risk irritating the skin and wearing down the protective skin barrier.

What You Should Know Before Buying The Ordinary Products

Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA is a good choice because it is a very mild AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) exfoliator. It contains Tasmanian pepperberry, which reduces signs of inflammation and the sensitivity commonly associated with peeling.

Please note: If you have sensitive skin or have had a sensitive reaction to chemical peels in the past, do not use this. Try a more gentle approach: A fine powder exfoliator like Dermalogica’s Daily MicroExfoliant can work well (it’s one of my favorites!).

Directions: Apply once a day, preferably in the PM. May be diluted with other treatments to reduce potency until skin develops tolerance. Avoid contact with eyes. Contact of the product with the skin should be of limited frequency or duration. Please always remember to use sunscreen when using AHA formulas.

Fun fact: Hyaluronic acid attracts 1,000 times its weight in water.

The Ordinary Products That Are Safe For Fungal Acne

The Ordinary formula contains three forms of hyaluronic acid with different molecular weights to provide hydration that penetrates deep into the skin’s layers. It is a vegetarian formula with a pH of 6.5-7.5.

How it feels: This is a non-greasy moisturizer with no noticeable scent. It has a pH level of 6.5-7.0 and is alcohol free and oil free.

The Ordinary currently offers two sunscreens in its portfolio – one SPF 15 and SPF 30, with two more on the way (Invisible SPF 35, and Blended Filter SPF 50).

I always go with at least SPF 30 whenever possible, so Mineral UV Filter SPF 30 with Antioxidants is my pick.

What it feels like: A non-greasy sunscreen with a matte finish. This is a mineral sunscreen, so expect a white sheen after you first apply. You should apply it 15-20 minutes before sun exposure (unlike chemical sunscreens that start working immediately).

Directions: Shake well before use. Apply liberally and evenly to face 15 to 20 minutes before UV exposure.
