How To Apply Skincare?

When we send clients home with these new skin care products, there’s often a follow-up question about the proper order to apply the products (and when to use them).

Before you ask – yes, the order of product application is important. The order of application can really affect the results. In general, we generally recommend using products from the thinnest to the thickest consistency, but our skin care experts can give you some more detailed tips for your morning and nighttime skin care routine. provide steps.

Morning and evening, you should always start your skin care routine by cleansing your skin with warm water and a cleanser suitable for your skin type. In order for your skin to absorb all the nutrients and ingredients from the products that will later come into your skin care routine, your skin must first be free of makeup, oil, dirt, etc.

When you think of toner, do you think of witch hazel? you are not alone. Fortunately, toners have evolved significantly over the past 10 years. Toners can serve many purposes, but they are usually designed to hydrate the skin and prepare the face to absorb other ingredients. That’s why this skin care routine is in such infancy (plus, toners are usually liquid-based).

There are many different toners on the market and they can be formulated for different skin types and concerns. If you’re looking for a toner, it’s important to ask your beautician for a recommendation!

Serums never go out of style in the skin care world (and for good reason). Serums are highly concentrated, nutrient-dense products that are typically used to address specific skin concerns such as blemishes, fine lines, pigmentation, and more.

Serums really carry the skin care team and are a great way to balance out your skin care routine. Gamela Skin offers a wide range of serums for various skin problems. For a recommendation on which serum to add to your routine, contact our beautician at [email protected]

The Correct Order To Apply Skincare Products?

In case you haven’t noticed, the order of product application follows a rule of thumb from thinnest to thickest. Eye creams are usually lighter in consistency than moisturizers, so it’s important to remember that they should be used before creams or lotions.

While eye creams aren’t usually part of everyone’s skincare routine, they’re a great option for those looking to combat aging and under-eye bags. The skin under the eyes is very sensitive, so with the help of a skin care specialist, you should choose products carefully and apply gently. Shop our eye care products here.

Acupressure is used in the evening to eliminate spots, blemishes and uneven skin tone. These products may not be used daily in your skin care routine, but can be used more when needed.

Be sure to use a spot treatment before applying your moisturizer (step six) so it can fully penetrate the skin. Because moisturizers are heavier, they can sometimes prevent thinner products from working—another reason we’re giving you these step-by-step skincare ordering guides.

What’s The ‘right’ Order To Apply Your Skincare In?

If you use toner or retinol in your skin care routine, we recommend skipping spot treatments to avoid skin irritation. Ask your beautician for a spot treatment to address your skin concerns.

Finally, your moisturizer can start playing! Just because it’s one of the last products to implement doesn’t mean it should be left out.

We recommend using a moisturizing cream twice a day. It’s a common misconception that people with oily skin, breakouts, or blemishes should skip moisturizer—and it couldn’t be further from the truth. This means that you need to choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

Moisturizer not only helps keep your skin hydrated, but because it’s a thicker consistency, it actually helps hold any other products you’ve previously used in your pores, making them more effective.

The Correct Morning Skincare Routine Order (2021 Update)

We recommend using a light moisturizer in the morning and a stronger moisturizer in the evening. As always, consult your esthetician to find the right moisturizer for your skin type.

Retinol is a vitamin A-based product that helps increase cell turnover. Retinoids help increase collagen production and exfoliate the skin, both of which fight many skin problems like wrinkles, blemishes, dark spots, and more.

If retinol is new to your skin care routine, we recommend consulting with your esthetician to find the right product for your skin type. We also recommend starting slowly with this product as it is strong and can cause skin irritation. After applying moisturizer, we always recommend applying a pea-sized drop. Why? This helps reduce skin irritation without diluting the treatment.

*Also, if you use retinol, tell your provider. We recommend skipping Renol about 7 days before waxing procedures. *

The Correct Skincare Routine Order (2021 Update)

Last – save the most important step for SPF, always! Sunscreen is not meant to penetrate the skin, so it is applied last. SPF is designed to shield and protect your skin from the sun.

We rave about sunscreen a lot (and we’ve given you all the facts about choosing the best sunscreen for your skin). Bottom line: Always choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF between 15 and 30. Applying sunscreen really helps reduce the list of other products you need to use later in life.

Does an eight-step skincare routine seem overboard? For some it may be! For us, this is music to our ears. Even if you don’t
