What Are The Chances Of Getting Pregnant

What Are The Chances Of Getting Pregnant – Many different factors affect a woman’s chances of becoming pregnant. There are many causes of infertility, including male and female factors, and a woman’s age is a key factor in her fertility. Her age certainly affects a woman’s chances of conceiving either naturally or with assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), but age is not everything. At CNY Fertility, we evaluate each patient on a case by case basis and advise them on which treatment will give them the best chance of conceiving and what that chance is. This article presents the results of various studies and research on a woman’s chance of becoming pregnant related to age. However, the best way to understand your personal fertility and your chances of conceiving is to arrange a fertility consultation and assessment with our clinical team.

The likelihood of getting pregnant changes dramatically each month as a woman ages. As the figure below shows, your chances of getting pregnant drop the most between the ages of 35 and 40. Your chance of getting pregnant drops from around 25% at the peak of your fertility to less than 5% around the age of 40. And unfortunately, it doesn’t improve her chances of getting pregnant [link=”https://www.asrm.org/” text=”American Society for Reproductive Medicine”/].

What Are The Chances Of Getting Pregnant

Infertility is often defined as the inability to conceive after 12 months (or more) of unprotected sex. A woman’s chances of conceiving naturally change as she ages. The definition of infertility also applies per se. If a woman is over 35, fertility specialists can diagnose her as infertile after just 6 months of trying to conceive. It is important that every woman knows her chances of getting pregnant, especially as she gets older, so she knows when to seek the help of a fertility specialist. In the figure below you can find the probability of women conceiving naturally within 12 months for each age.

What Are The Chances Of Getting Pregnant At 44?

Now that we know a woman of any age’s chances of getting pregnant, it is important that we discuss her chances of infertility. As you would expect from both graphs and previous information, the likelihood of infertility increases with age. In her early 20s, a woman has about a 7% chance of being infertile, mostly due to fertility factors unrelated to age such as PCOS, endometriosis, or male factors.

A woman’s chance of conceiving at any age is affected by many factors. Below we will discuss some of the most important ones.

Ovarian reserve is a term used to describe the number of eggs remaining in a woman’s ovaries. If we think back to high school biology, you may remember that females are born with every egg they will ever have. In fact, a female fetus has all the eggs she will ever have while still in the womb. When a woman reaches sexual maturity, she begins to develop a large number of eggs – around a thousand – each month. Of course, only one of these thousands is “selected” to fully mature – that selected egg is the one that will be ovulated and has the opportunity to be fertilized and to develop. The remaining 999 (approximately) eggs do not develop and wither each month, meaning that a woman’s ovarian reserve decreases by more than a thousand each month and decreases sharply with age.

Although ovarian reserve in itself is not a measure of oocyte quality, it does have some correlations with oocyte quality and the chance of pregnancy.

When Are Women & Men Most Fertile?

Ovarian reserve is most commonly determined by testing for anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH). AMH is a protein-based hormone produced by specialized cells in the ovarian follicle (where the egg develops). AMH blood levels can be used to estimate the number of follicles in a woman’s ovaries and the number of eggs she has, and to predict her ovarian response to stimulant drugs. A large number of oocytes are lost each month, so as a woman ages, she has fewer oocytes in stock to draw from. As fewer eggs need to be retrieved, fewer eggs begin to develop each month, leading to lower AMH levels over time.

A higher AMH level indicates that more follicles / oocytes have begun to develop this month and a greater potential to develop multiple high quality oocytes when during an egg freezing treatment cycle, injectable IUI, or IVF.

A typical AMH level for a fertile woman is between 1.0 and 4.0 ng/ml. A value below 1.0 ng/ml is considered low and indicates reduced ovarian reserve. However, it is important to understand that AMH levels can vary widely and improve every month.

Another reason that the chances of pregnancy decrease and infertility rates increase with age is the chromosomal composition of the oocytes and therefore the embryos of the woman.

Can I Get Pregnant While On My Period?

Now that we have seen that the chances of natural pregnancy decrease with age and why, let’s see if IVF can save the day?

As you can see from data reported by the CDC, IVF helps improve pregnancy chances overall – however, age is still a big factor in determining success, mainly for the reasons outlined above. As egg quality is the main factor in a lower chance of success (rather than uterine environment or other factors), it makes sense that IVF with young eggs (either from donor eggs or frozen eggs) previous) results in IVF success rates that are relatively independent of age. . Fertility preservation can help increase a woman’s chances of conceiving as she ages.

Despite individual differences, fertility and the likelihood of conceiving with age, both naturally and with the help of fertility treatments, tends to decrease with age. But that certainly doesn’t mean older women can’t get pregnant. Women in their late 30s and 40s can get pregnant and have healthy children, sometimes with the help of a fertility clinic, sometimes all on their own.

The cost of fertility treatment can be a major barrier for many women. The cost of IVF, donor eggs, and egg freezing can vary greatly from clinic to clinic, so it’s important to do your research. At CNY Fertility, we pride ourselves on being the most affordable clinic in the country. We also offer internal financing programs to make affordable treatment even easier.
