What Order Do You Put Eyeshadow On

What Order Do You Put Eyeshadow On – . Man! It was a lot of work, but I’m really happy with the result. I hope this series helps more Asians better understand eye shape and those who have Asian clients!

In this installment of the Eyeshadow Tutorials Asian Eye series, we look at where to place eye makeup on an Asian eye.

What Order Do You Put Eyeshadow On

When I first started, I had no idea where or how to apply eyeshadow. Eye makeup attempts used to be limited to eyeliner and mascara, and sometimes, just ONE eye shadow color. It also took me years of trial and error to finally stop my mascara from turning into a raccoon by noon.

I had no idea that the eye was divided into so many parts – lid, crease, contour, highlight….. what?!

I had no idea that there are so many ways to create an eye shape, blend colors, or use colors to highlight or bring back certain parts of the eye.

Google and Youtube certainly provided tutorials and eye charts from their resources, but most of them were limited to the Caucasian eye.

It took me a long time to realize that I can’t copy the Western way of applying eye shadow, because one of the most noticeable differences between Asian and Caucasian eyes is the “crease”, or rather the lack of it.

Eyeshadow Basics Everyone Should Know

If you haven’t already checked out my post on the differences between Caucasian and Asian eyes, please check it out. It will definitely help you understand this post better too!

Non-overlapping eyes that characterize the Asian eye rather than the stereotypical slanted eye shape.

I am very proud to be Asian and my desire is to help as many people as possible to better understand the Asian eye and use the most flattering eye makeup for their own eye shape and contour.

Finally, here is my own eyeshadow placement chart to share with Asians who want to know how and where to apply eye makeup better.

This chart will also be useful for makeup artists to understand how to best apply eye makeup for Asians.

The map is based on my eye – large, round, with prominent double eyelids and does not match

Shadow placement can vary for different looks, but here’s a basic breakdown of the eye parts.

I’ve included pictures for each part of the eye rather than just having one full picture outlining all the different parts, simply because I always find it hard to read and refer to just one picture above. It took me many hours to draw the contours, but the result is worth the effort. I’m sure it will be easier for you to understand!

Can be covered with only one shade color, can also be divided into vertical halves – inner 1/2, outer 1/2; Or thirds – inner 1/3, middle 1/3 and outer 1/3.

Extends from the inner part of the eye to the edge of the iris. A lighter color is usually placed here compared to the middle and outer colors.

It is directly above the iris. This is usually a darker color than the inner 1/3, but lighter than the outer 1/3.

Covers the edge of the iris to the outer edge of the eye. The darkest color of the lot is usually placed here.

The vertical gradient method is discussed in part two of this series, and the horizontal gradient method in part 5 of the Eye Makeup Guide to Asian Eyes series.

Note that I used “usually published here” for all third parties. Firstly, the 3 colors can be of equal color strength, and secondly, the vertical division method is not so often used on the Asian eye.

At all. In most Asian eye makeup, the vertical gradient method involves applying eyeshadow horizontally

So that a vertical gradient is formed is ideal. confused? Check out this post to learn the difference between vertical and horizontal slopes.

How I Put Makeup (in Order)

There is a small area that points to the nose. It can be slightly stretched on the inner 1/3 of the lid and also on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line.

The eye works wonders to make your eyes brighter and more alert. I like to use MAC Eye Kohl in Fascinating or NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a base, then layer with a lighter eyeshadow color like silver, cream, and, well, pink.

In Caucasian eye makeup, the crease is the indentation line above the lid, where

, and accentuated even more by using a deeper eyeshadow color to create depth in the eye.

Determined by where the lid falls, then putting a deeper color near the crease will only make your eyes look smaller, especially if you have droopy lids, or a very small lid area.

, continue from the color of the eyelid to the high point of the brow bone. One color can be used as a transit color

, but it can also be divided into a gradual transition of colors, moving towards the brow bone.

And blend the color so that there is no artificial looking line on the invisible indentation.

How To Apply Eyeshdows Properly?

On the contour area, you instantly lift the eyes and improve the shape of the eye area.

If this is still unclear, a full tutorial on defining contour area will be covered in Chapter 4

As an easy fix, another “V” stroke is usually found on the sitter

Now the simple parts remain, because in these parts there are no obvious differences between Asian and Caucasian eyes.

) is located in the lower right corner and you place the line above it, creating the line of the brow bone. What? = d

The area is directly below the eyebrow and a lighter or lighter shade such as white, beige, silver is placed here to make the face stand out when the light hits it.

Oh, one small difference I should mention between Asian and Caucasian eyes is that highlighting the browbones will be more noticeable on a Caucasian eye due to a more pronounced browbone.

Powder Eyeshadow Vs Cream Eyeshadow

If it is possible. Line the Waterline with a cream eyeliner like Clio Sharp So Simple Waterproof Pencil Liner, then apply your smudged waterproof mascara.

I used to love the gel eyeliners because they work best on my oily lids and the pigmentation is the best. My favorite gel liner was the Kate Gel Liner in BK-1 ( review ). I also loved the Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black Ink ( review ).

Alternatively, you can simply use darker eyeshadows to create a smokey look. Small eyes should avoid using black or dark brown all over

. My favorite is a beautiful dark brown glitter pencil from Clio that I’ve used for years. If I’m in the mood for something extra, I’ll add a reddish-brown color like Venetian Red or Love Letter by ABH Modern Renaissance. Warm colors look much nicer on my NC25 skin tone than cool colors.

There is a watery area located near the eyeball. There are two – upper and lower.

This is where Tightlining is done – a method used to create the illusion of thicker lashes using black (typical) eyeliner.

, some people use beige, white, silver to make the eyes bigger by visually expanding the area. Or black to give that dark color, but unless you have big eyes that aren’t damaged by black, try not to line the entire eye with black liner.

, especially the eyeliners are shimmery, I don’t touch them anymore and I don’t feel them at all.

I mention the border here to show where eye makeup should not go. An imaginary line can be drawn

Usually no color or line is placed on or outside the border, unless an artistic look is intended – some people place rhinestones or paint dots on the border or extend the eyeshadow beyond the line.

While it’s important to keep regular or even dramatic eye makeup in this area, don’t go too hard and stop there suddenly. Remember to spread each color so it looks naturally faded.
