What Type Of Book Should I Write

What Type Of Book Should I Write – What should I write? Having trouble answering this question? You are not alone. Many writers know they want to be a published author, but struggle to choose a topic for their first book.

I’ll walk you through how to find your topic, how to choose a genre, and how to write one sentence to describe your book.

What Type Of Book Should I Write

Your answers can help determine the topic of your book. Even if you already know your topic, you are one step ahead of the game and this article may help you focus your efforts more.

Why You Should Write In Books. I Don’t Read So Good.

Life Experiences: Challenges you’ve faced, successes you’ve had, or lessons you’ve learned can make a great story. Many writers choose to write a memoir as their first book. Your life experiences can tell stories that people find interesting. Your first book might focus on your family history, a problem you overcame, or a funny incident you experienced.

Passion and Interests: Do you have a passion for cooking or can you share tips on how to become an effective salesperson? Perhaps you are a teacher and want to write a book about the subject you teach. Maybe you love to travel and want to give advice to others looking for great destinations to visit. Do you have a favorite hobby that other people might be interested in, or are you an activist for something? A topic you know is a good topic for a first book. Consider writing about a topic you know well so you can share your knowledge with others.

Creative stories: Where does your imagination take you? Maybe it’s a hot romance or an alien world. Perhaps a children’s story or a magical fantasy comes to mind. Make a note of what you like to watch on TV and what books you like to read. It may help you with the topic of your first book. Who knows, you might write the next detective mystery or chilling horror story.

Looking back at your chosen topic, what genre does it fall into? Is it nonfiction, fiction, poetry, or something else?

How To Write A Book Review

If you think about real life, your genre is nonfiction. It might be a memoir, an instruction book, or a travel guide. Biographies and self-help books are the most popular genres of nonfiction. You can write about business, money, crafts, hobbies, travel or spirituality. There are many other categories of nonfiction, so consider which one best fits the topic you want to write about. Let’s say you’re writing a memoir. It will be listed under documentation, biographies and memoirs.

If you want to write fiction, the most popular genres are romance, mystery, fantasy, thrillers, and children’s books. There is even a subcategory under it. For example, romance is a broad category. People who read romance novels may want adventure romances, historical romances, or futuristic romances. Make sure your book is categorized so readers can find it.

Go online for a more detailed list of genres and search for the types of books you might want to write. Amazon and Goodreads are two websites I recommend to help you identify specific genres, categories, and subcategories for your books. Many people buy their books by going to Amazon and clicking Shop by Category, so choosing the most appropriate genre and category will help readers find your book.

Goodreads is another popular site where people find their favorite reads. The books are sorted by fiction and non-fiction with a long list of related categories. Let’s take fantasy for example. You can find everything from psychics to fairy tales to unicorns, so you can see how important it is to choose specific categories and subcategories for your books. Browse through these genres and categories on Amazon and Goodreads to see if you can find a genre that fits the type of book you want to write.

Books Everyone Should Read At Least Once In Their Lives

Once you have a topic, it’s important to identify your specific audience. Is your readership narrow or broad? What genres and categories does your ideal reader prefer? By understanding who your target audience is, you can tailor the subject of your book to their needs. You can also make sure that you choose the best genres and categories so that your readers can find your book.

If you want to focus your book writing efforts, I suggest creating a one-line summary. Include the topic, a description of your target audience and what they will gain from reading your book. Here is an example of a one-liner my students wrote:

Think of your readers as your customers. Why would they want to read your book? Will they learn something or find satisfaction in your topic?

For example, you can write your memoir with the story of how you beat cancer. Someone in a similar situation might be interested in a book on the subject. Your one-liner? “My book is my non-fiction memoir to people battling cancer, feeling hopeless and looking for encouragement.”

When choosing a specific topic for your book, I want to share three secrets with you:

Now that you have a better understanding of genres, categories, and individual sentences, make sure you summarize your book by asking the following questions:

I help business owners bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. So they can stop feeling like slaves to their business. As you may already know from this year’s Personal Development Book Award Guide, I read a lot this year. In addition to these books, I also read several fiction, business and writing books. As bloggers, it’s important to be able to share stories that are coherent and free of things like grammar, punctuation, and other errors that detract from the message we want to share. (Thanks to some of you who didn’t hesitate to call me by mistake as soon as you saw it!)

This is probably the best writing book I’ve read this year. I already adore Stephen King and reading his account of his personal writing process and advice for other aspiring writers is a great insight into someone who has made a career out of doing what he loves. King focuses primarily on his own journey and does not offer blanket statements about writing that may not be for everyone. I really enjoy the anecdotes and the no-nonsense approach to what it takes to be a writer.

One of the most important pieces of advice I’ve gleaned from these books and other conversations I’ve had is that if you want to write, you have to read. It’s that simple. Read everything you can get your hands on. Reading texts by different authors allows you to be exposed to different voices, different perspectives and different ideas. When I was younger, I read non-stop and I am grateful for the time I spent on each one.

What Genre Should You Write?

Prose breaks down his book Reading Like A Writer into chapters devoted to different literary devices such as paragraphs, narratives, characters, dialogues, etc. And it offers a variety of quotes that you should read carefully and pay attention to what the author is trying to do in his work. This is more of a guide than a narrative of personal experience, but it’s equally important to focus on all the different aspects of writing.

I like this book because a) it’s short (161 pages) and b) it talks about the importance of authenticity in writing. As you may know if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, I’m a big believer in honesty, transparency and authenticity. I think it’s really important to share what’s going on in your life because you never know who else might be going through the same thing. It’s important for me to talk about things I’m not comfortable with because it’s a way to connect with other people and how I make sure I’m not lying to myself or anyone else.

Drawing on his decades of experience as an editor and writer, Hampton Wright offers writing guides that explain the best ways to write from the heart and inspiration.
