2020 is a big year for the iPhone. Not only is it Apple’s first major update since the iPhone X, but the iPhone 12 also marks the company’s first line of 5G phones. With such a big change, you might be wondering if it’s time to upgrade. The answer is: it depends. We’ve put together a handy guide to help you figure out which older iPhones are worth upgrading and which still have some life left in them.

What Happens When You Sign Out Apple Id On Iphone
The iPhone SE, launched earlier this year, is a fully capable smartphone and Apple’s most affordable offering. If you own one, you either love getting the deal or you love the phone’s small form factor. Anyway, there’s still no reason to update.
If you can’t wait, though, we recommend the iPhone 12 mini, which brings you 5G connectivity, an OLED display, all the nice upgrades you get from the iPhone SE.
If you bought your iPhone last year, there’s no compelling reason to upgrade to the iPhone 12 lineup. The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro have an A13 Bionic chipset, solid battery life, and great cameras. That’s not to say the iPhone 12 isn’t a solid upgrade — it is, but you can easily wait at least another year.
If you’re a smartphone photographer/videographer who just has to have the latest and greatest, we recommend the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It has all the bells and whistles like Apple’s new Dolby Vision video at 60fps, a 12x telephoto zoom lens, and support for Apple’s new ProRAW format.
Iphone Or Samsung: Which Smartphone Should You Choose In 2022?
If you have an iPhone XS or iPhone XR, don’t rush to upgrade. Sure, the iPhone 12 offers 5G connectivity and a host of other new features, but Apple’s 2018 iPhones are still powerful enough to handle anything you throw at them.
If you decide to upgrade, the iPhone 12 will be a nice change for iPhone XS owners and a big jump for iPhone XR users. The iPhone 12 has the same processor and modem as the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro, without many of the top camera features. Even so, you should still see a noticeable improvement in image quality from the iPhone XS/XR.
Apple’s iPhone X felt revolutionary at the time. It’s the company’s first phone with FaceID, as well as the first iPhone with an OLED display. And it still feels good now, so casual iPhone X users can certainly hold off for another year before upgrading.
If your iPhone X is starting to feel a little long in the tooth, go for the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 mini. Both will give you 5G support and much faster processors. Once again, smartphone photographers and videographers will want to check out the iPhone 12 Pro.
Iphone Vs. Android: How To Choose The Best Smartphone For You
The iPhone 8 was Apple’s last model with TouchID and has a relatively small 4.7-inch display. And since it was recently updated to iOS 14, there’s a chance it won’t get iOS 15. Besides the upcoming software updates, there are a few other reasons to consider upgrading. The iPhone 8’s A11 Bionic processor and modem were spot on at the time, but both feel a bit sluggish in 2020. The 12MP camera is starting to show its age, especially in low light.
That said, you should be able to get an extra year out of your iPhone 8, especially if you bought it within the last 12 months or recently replaced the battery. If you’re looking to upgrade now, though, the iPhone 12 Mini is a good, affordable option.
If you have an iPhone from 2016 or older, it’s time to upgrade. You’ve managed to get a few years out of your iPhone, and it’s probably showing its age. Things are slowing down and your photos are probably only worthy of an Instagram post.
The iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 12 will feel light years ahead of your old phone. In addition to faster hardware, the entry-level iPhone 12s has better camera sensors, Face ID, an OLED display, and 5G. Many people will also notice faster network and Wi-Fi speeds thanks to the iPhone 12’s support for Wi-Fi 6, as well as 7x carrier aggregation and 4×4 MIMO.

Apple has unveiled four new iPhone models, including the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. We’ve added comments for all of these new models and will update impressions for them soon.
If you have an iPhone you’re happy with, keep it. We don’t think you should upgrade just because Apple releases new phones.
But if your current phone is too slow or broken, or if you’re ready for an upgrade and want a new phone now, we recommend the iPhone 13. It’s a relatively modest upgrade over 2020’s iPhone 12, but the improved camera and better battery life battery builds on an already excellent design and faster processing, with no downsides other than a few grams of added weight. If you prefer a smaller screen, the iPhone 13 mini is also a great choice, as it offers all the same features in an easy-to-hold package for $100 less.
The iPhone 13 has a great dual-lens camera that can use night mode for impressive low-light photos, as well as a much faster processor, longer battery life, and a larger edge-to-edge OLED screen.
The Best Smartphones, Tried And Tested
The iPhone 13 Mini offers everything great about the iPhone 13, but is better suited for smaller hands and smaller pockets.
Apple’s iPhone 13 is as fast as the more expensive Pro models in almost every task and should be enough for daily use for at least the next four years. Even with its large 6.1-inch screen, its battery can get almost anyone through the day without needing to recharge. The iPhone 13’s two rear cameras — one standard wide-angle, one ultra-wide — are excellent and offer better low-light performance than previous iPhone cameras thanks to night mode. We prefer the square edges of the iPhone 13 to the curves of older iPhone models, and appreciate the new design’s strong front screen glass, excellent water resistance, and MagSafe charging and accessory system. While the iPhone 13 isn’t much better than the iPhone 12, and isn’t a significant upgrade in many ways if your current phone is a year or two older, it’s only a $50 premium when you compare models with the same capacity storage. . , and we think it’s worth the investment.
The iPhone 13 mini matches the iPhone 13 in its camera and many features, but is about 20% smaller and lighter. As a result, its body is even smaller than the iPhone SE 2020, but the new phone has a larger 5.4-inch edge-to-edge display. Although the battery lasted all day in our initial testing, heavy users may need to turn it off during the day. If you want all the modern features of the iPhone but prefer a smaller device, the 13 Mini offers just about the best deal.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has the largest screen of any iPhone, the battery lasts longer, and its cameras are higher quality than the iPhone 13 and 13 mini. It might be a little faster for some graphics-heavy tasks, but otherwise it matches the rest of the iPhone 13 family in features and speed.
Iphone 13 Pro Colors: Which Should You Buy?
While the iPhone 13’s screen is big enough for most people, the iPhone 13 Pro Max offers an even larger 6.7-inch display, so it’s a good choice for those who multitask, play games, or just use their the phone. For watching videos or for those who have visual needs and would benefit from more realism on the screen
