A New Stanley Cup Logo For The Nhl Postseason
The NHL held a “qualifying round” in each conference before the official start of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The top four seeds in each conference earned automatic playoff berths, leaving the 5-12 seeds in each conference to face the top five in a series to determine the remaining playoff bracket positions.
Meanwhile, the top four seeds entered a round-robin tournament to determine their 1st round seeding, with the Flyers and Golden Knights securing the No. 1 seed in their respective conferences.
Now that the playoff stretch is set, each series will be a best-of-seven format from the first round to the Stanley Cup Finals, as is customary. The only significant difference is that teams from both conferences will be re-seeded after each round, instead of being seeded in recent years.
The first round of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs began on Tuesday, August 11 and ended on Friday, August 21. The second round will begin on Saturday, August 22, followed by the conference finals originally scheduled for September 8, depending on the results of the second round.

The Vegas Gold Knights became the first team to make the playoffs in their inaugural league season since the 1979–80 Hartford Whalers and Edmonton Oilers.
They also became the first expansion team to make the playoffs in their inaugural season since the 1967 NHL expansion.
From there they eventually became the first team after St. Louis Blues 1967/68, who won their conference and reached the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season. The only difference is that the 1967-68 season through the 1969-70 season guaranteed that the expansion team would be able to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. For the fourth time in league history (2000, 2001, 2007) only two Original Six teams, the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs, have made the playoffs. For the first time since 1966, no playoff games were played in New York State. For the fifth time in eight years, all three California teams made the playoffs.
